Cognitive heuristics used in decision-making are not perfect and often do not yield the best choice. Table 13.2 of your text (entitled potential sources of errors in judgments) lists several of these mental shortcuts that we often use to make decisions.
Choosing any two(2) of these heuristics:
1) draw from your personal experience and describe how the use of these heuristics can sometimes lead to errors in your own decision making. You can either describe a specific time period of the past, or you can discuss heuristics that you adopt that persist in your everyday decision making.
2) Now that you have learned how these heuristics can lead you astray, describe how you might overcome falling victim to these heuristics in the future.
