Describe a situation where you were a leader or responsible for the success of a project at work or in your home. What leadership role had the greatest impact on the success of the project? Why?
A moment in a situation when I was responsible for everyone’s success was when I was the staffing coordinator/Lead C.N.A at a nursing facility. My leadership role was to make sure I had enough nurses assistants scheduled so that the patients would get the top tier treatment they need, and to keep all assistants happy with enough hour’s for payroll, and help accommodate them with coverage when needing PTO time, next, play the role of the best lead CNA to keep all management staff happy and proud by making sure the facility and patients where nice, organized and clean. With me being the leader, everyone was happy, I hardly had problems such as those like no help on the floor, and ms Thomas had fallen because she was trying to walk and couldn’t because no one noticed because we didn’t have the help and coverage needed! I was awarded employee of the month for several months straight due to my success and role of a leader. Still to this day I still love and miss that job!

Greetings Class and Dr. Bruning. I can recall a time when I worked for ADT Security alarm company. I worked there for 17 years. I started out as a dispatcher and later climbed up the tier to become the lead supervisor. I was responsible for 15 other subordinates on the day shift and was charged with getting the inbound call wait down below one minute and the call had to be answered by the third ring and all notes had to be entered while during that specific call and increase call resolution. I was also responsible for creating and maintaining the shift schedule, running all the daily reports for upper management and getting them to the proper manager and he would forward to CEO. I was charged with resolving any conflicts with employees before they could escalate to upper management and I was responsible for for maintain the back up system. If it would go down I would have to go to the back up technical room and reboot the system or we would have to work on a back up system until the technicians could arrive once I called them. I believe the leadership role that had the most impact was my ability to treat everyone inclusively, respectfully and professional and I kept my personal life separate from my job to be able to maintain the level of respect from my employees. I also think that my ability to successfully communicate with each employee on their individual level and show empathy was also a great impact on the company because we all got along and respected each other. I even ended up being my eldest sisters’ boss; ironic ha? Nonetheless, we were able to successfully meet our goal as listed above and beat the other two shifts and was tremendously rewarded as a team.

As part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, Congress eliminated patient cost-sharing for COVID-19 diagnostic testing services provided under employer-sponsored group health plans. In addition, many health insurers have waived the customer cost-sharing and co-payments for hospitalization and other costs to treat the virus. In addition to helping policyholders, these reductions in patient out-of-pocket costs should also benefit healthcare providers, as they will reduce the burden of billing and collection from patients who may not have the resources to pay for such services and could ultimately become bad debts. Many insurers are waiving all co-payments and deductibles for telehealth services for non-COVID-19 health issues. Telehealth has been viewed as a cost-saving measure by insurance companies as it has become more widely available. Insurance companies are hoping that the expansion of telehealth will help reduce the cost of claims. I know when the pandemic hit, I was burdened with an emergency of my own and needed to see a doctor and Telehealth was a very easy way to access the doctor before I was forced to leave my home to go to hospital. In my opinion they should have kept telehealth around because it was a valuable tool to have. It stopped germs from spreading if you were ill and did not want to infect others. Due to many people losing their jobs, health insurance policy cancellations will also place a burden on the healthcare system when the patients become uninsured. In conclusion, COVID19 contributed to a lot of scary things from job loss all the way to losing coverage for healthcare. But the way of the world is not always pleasant. Thank you all for reading.

EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON HEALTHCARE COSTS
The Covid-19 pandemic was one of the most challenging times ever faced by the health sector. It challenged health systems around the world and pushed them to the limit as hospitals were being filled up as thousands of people were contracting the virus every day. Health care professionals were dealing with a disease that no one knew about. It affected the health sector in several ways and increased the cost of treatment.
One of the ways through which the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the health sector is by increasing the cost of treatment and testing. The treatment was supportive and not curative (Neuman et al., 2020). This led to high costs of care because patients would stay in hospitals for long. In addition, the support needed to maintain a stable condition for a patient was costly. For instance, the oxygen supply in the hospitals went down because the demand was high and was also not adequate.
The failure of healthcare institutions all over the globe to adequately prepare for their challenges was a significant factor that contributed to those challenges. There was a shortage of several things, including personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare professionals, hospital equipment, sanitizing supplies, toilet paper, and water (Kaye et al., 2021).
Moreover, the pressure to find a drug to cure the virus was mounting on scientists. They needed enough financial support to fund research and laboratory tests. Since no healthcare system was prepared for this pandemic, the government had to fund the healthcare using taxpayers’ money because the initial budget would not be enough, an unpredicted scenario.
However, to avoid such costly effects in healthcare, the government can set up a disaster management team in the healthcare sector that deals with emerging events. This team will be expected to respond quickly to any unpredicted scenarios in the health industry and will be expected always to research to establish the possibility of a certain event growing into a pandemic. This will help find preventive methods and mitigate the adverse effects of pandemics.
