Each student will research a topic dealing with problems in death and aging (from the list provided in “Modules”) for the purposes of writing a research paper on the topic in the APA style of writing. (course outcomes #1,2,3 and 4)
Make sure you re-read through the Research Paper Instructions (located in “Assignment Instructions” under
Modules) before you start preparing this paper. It MUST be submitted as a Microsoft Word document through the assignment box located here in Canvas, which uses
“Unicheck” for plagiarism. You will have 3 attempts to upload your paper, just in case you mistakenly upload the incorrect document.
Research Paper Instructions
Each student will need to have
a topic approved by the instructor by the due date in the course syllabus (see topic list under
Modules). Submit your proposed topic through the Research Topic “Unicheck” link in Assignments.
EMAILED SUBMISSIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED AND WILL RECEIVE NO CREDIT.
The research paper for this class will be due by the date listed in the syllabus. There are no late submissions. In other words, the paper must be turned in on time, or there will be no credit given.

When choosing a topic from the list, be sure it is something that can be covered
THOROUGHLY in 4-5 pages. Be as specific as possible. Provide a one-two sentence description of your topic when you submit it for approval.
RESEARCH PAPER INSTRUCTIONS:
Paper should be at least 4-5 pages of content (maximum of 5-pages), not including the title page or bibliography page. Use double spacing, 1″ margins all around, Arial font style (Size 11 font).

Minimum of 5 professional, refereed sources (within the last 5 years). You may NOT use the textbook, newspapers (e.g., USA Today, Wall Street Journal), or popular magazines (Time, Sports Illustrated) or non-professional websites or dictionaries. With websites, use government (gov) or education (edu) sources. For peer-reviewed references, check appropriate databases online within the UTC library (such as PubMed, Medline, etc.). IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE FINDING APPROPRIATE SOURCES, CONTACT THE UTC REFERENCE LIBRARIANS FOR ASSISTANCE AT 423-425-4501.
