1. In the assigned article “Big Data, Surveillance Capitalism, and Precision
Medicine,” Mark Rothstein argues that the legal apparatus in the United States
inadequately regulates the ongoing rapid collection of vast amounts of personal
data. If you agree with him, provide an example of a negative ethical consequence
of our laws (or lack thereof) concerning data privacy. If you think there are no
negative ethical consequences, explain why not.
2. Which metaethical perspective is most compatible with your own—ethical
absolutism or ethical relativism? Explain why.
3. Explain the significance of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (Title V
of the Telecommunications Act of 1996). Do you think that this portion of the law
should be repealed, modified, or left alone? Explain your reasoning.
4. Explain the criteria used to evaluate morality in each of the following two ethical
