Overview
In Week 3, you imagined a scenario in which you were hired as a consultant for Alikay Naturals to provide Rochelle Graham with recommendations about how she could leverage the first three steps for successful change as she continues to grow her business. Now, it’s your turn to imagine owning your own business.
Over the last few weeks, you have learned about the following functional areas of business:
Marketing (Week 4)
Human Resources (Week 5)
Accounting & Finance (Week 6)
Operations (Week 7)
Imagine that you are preparing to speak to potential investors about the functional areas of your company. You need this investment support because you have grown along the S-Curve to the point where the demand for your product is so great that you need to expand to find ways to meet the needs of your consumers. Your goal is to show your knowledge of these core functional areas by describing them and explaining how they can support this change.
Instructions
Using information that you have learned from the readings and videos, write a 1– 2 page executive brief that discusses the four functional areas within your business and their role in managing change and growth.
Your executive brief should be formatted with a heading for each functional area: marketing, human resources, accounting & finance, operations.
Under each heading, you will:
Describe the functional area. What is it and what does it do within the organization? Your description should include 2-3 main tasks associated with the department.
Explain how the functional area contributes to the overall success of the organization using specific examples from your readings or the videos.
Describe how the functional area contributes to managing organizational change. In this response, feel free to consider the Eight Steps to Successful Change that you have learned about in Our Iceberg Is Melting. Be sure to use specific examples from your readings or the videos.
This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The library is your home for SWS assistance, including citations and formatting. Please refer to the Library site for all supports. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Aligned to course outcomes:
Explain how the functional areas of a business contribute to its success.
