Physics is a natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with elated concepts such as energy and force. Scientific laws and theories express the general truths of nature and the rody of knowledge they encompass. These laws of nature are rules that all natural processes appear to ollow. Physics classifies all interactions between matter and energy and tries to answer the most central questions of the universe.
After completing your reading from Chapters 1-5, consider the aspects of your daily routines that pertain to any of the disciplines that are included in the realm of physics. Consider these basic applications:
Motion-One of the first lessons in a physics class is that of motion: how an object moves, how fast it moves, where it moves, and at what rate it speeds up and slows down. For example, when driving somewhere, both a driver and a car have velocity, meaning they move in a specific direction at some speed.
Said driver probably changes how fast they travel from time to time, alternately accelerating and decelerating.
Momentum and energy-Momentum is a vector quantity that describes the amount of mass in motion.
Kinetic energy is a measure of an object’s energy from motion. Consider basic movements such as walking that require energy.
Newton’s Laws of Motion-In the first law, an object will not change its motion unless a force acts on it. In the second law, the force on an object is equal to its mass times its acceleration. In the third law, when two objects interact, they apply forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction. Consider swimming through the water. How do these laws apply?

Gravity-Most famous as the force that makes things fall down, more fundamentally, gravity is a force of attraction. Not only does it attract things to Earth’s surface, but it keeps planets orbiting stars. Gravity is also the reason things have weight. Everything has mass, a measure of the amount of matter in an object; however, it is the earth’s gravitational pull that gives an object weight.
