Please compose an email to a mentor who specializes in law.
Think of several (not dozens) of questions you would like to ask your mentor. Generally, you will want to ask a few questions along the lines of: Do they recommend the career for new students?, What advice do they have for people wanting to enter the career?, What is the best preparation for the career?. You can craft your own question along these lines, but you want to keep your questions fairly general and limited in number at this point.
Write a professional email to the mentor. Review the ‘email etiquette’ discussed in this course — use their full name and title, briefly explain who you are and why you are contacting them, ask your questions, thank them, and make sure it is all well written and correctly spelled and punctuated. Email the mentor and include the email in the “Your Mentor” section of the Virtual Mentoring Worksheet below.
