Position paper builds on a given topic (that we have previously studied) by paraphrasing,
developing, and further elaborating your views and positions with detailed arguments; carefully
crafted analysis; supporting your claims with evidence (textual sources). Once you review the
conversations on the topic and present your position, defend your own position by listing the
opposite arguments and addressing their concerns. Overall, think of yourself as a careful
commentator of texts (evidence). Ground your paper on the textbook (plus the additional
sources) as much as you can.
Aside from the reading, you’re required to use at least two (2) other academic sources (academic
articles published in academic journals & academic books) you found out of your own research.
If you want to use a non-academic source, you can do so as long as you are using at least 2
academic sources
Pay close attention to the following three elements when writing the paper:
1. The soundness and the coherence of your overall thesis/argument
2. Critical analysis and understanding
3. Flow and structure of the overall paper
LAST: Make sure you list your references at the end of the paper
