Read “The Chase” and “Lenses,” by Annie Dillard
You need to specify what you didn’t like and why. Don’t just say “I didn’t like it.” Discuss why. Support your likes and dislikes with concrete evidence from the stories.
For both stories, analyze and discuss together how Dillard creates a dominant impression to compare and contrast a child’s and an adult’s way of looking at life.
Beyond the stories, also reflect on your own reactions to them: How did you “experience” the stories? Were you engaged immediately, or did it take you a while to “get into them”? How did you feel reading them — amused, sad, disturbed, confused, bored… what else?
Be honest, but support your answers with textual evidence and justification.
