The first essay will be your original idea on a particular aspect or aspects of the fiction listed below only. Use your choice of stories, your notes, and your ideas only no outside research, no Al to create content. This assignment is a response/reflection essay, so use first person.
Essays can be revised (if needed) if submitted on time. Revisions will be due one week after I give feedback.
Readings of choice for Essay 1:
• Mahfouz’s “Half a Day” -Surrealism and allegory
• Mahfouz’s personal experience with the 1919 Revolution
Jackson’s “The Lottery” -Gothic, dystopian, horror
