The Individual, Society, and Change: Analysis of a Written Text: What motivates people to take action and change society? What are the characteristics that citizens/groups need to have in order to bring about change?
Parts:
Choose from the assigned texts we have read so far in the course (King, Hurston, Chief Seattle, the film “13th). The reading should discuss a change that has taken place within an individual or in society itself.
Record your response to the text (using third person). Include the essay’s title, author, thesis, claims, evidence, purpose, and tone.
Analyze your response to the essay and to the essay’s context by using your own ideas about the characteristics needed to bring about change. In other words, how do you view this issue? Make sure that your ideas formulate your thesis and guide your discussion. Craft a coherent central argument which engages the reader and cites your written text by using MLA format. (2 typed, double-spaced pages—Works Cited list needed).
